NFL Kicks Offs Hulu Alliance With 400 Hours Of Footage From NFL Network, NFL Films

March 8, 2010: It's difficult to tell that the NFL season is not in play, considering that the recent NFL Scouting Combine generated several weeks national press and that the upcoming NFL Draft in April will be shown in prime time on ESPN  for the first time. Now, fans will be able to access the league 24/7 via a deal the NFL has signed with Hulu to offer regular season and Super Bowl highlights, historic footage and other programming that covers the full gauntlet of the NFL.

The programs and footage will be shown at a micro site, www.Hulu.com/NFL, and give visitors access to more than 600 videos and more than 400 hours of content online from all 32 teams via the archives at NFL Network and footage from NFL Films. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Material is presented "with limited commercial interruption" via such marketers as BMW, Verizon, 5-Hour Energy and Olive Garden. Hulu is a joint venture among NBC Universal, Fox Entertainment and Disney, (ESPN/ABC), each of whom are NFL media partners.

Among the nine programs that will initially be made available on Hulu are: Hard Knocks, an inside look at NFL training camps from 2001-2009; Season In Review, the story of each NFL season from 1993-2005 as told by NFL Films; Sounds of the Game, a highlight show that recaps the best weekly press conferences, along with game footage and comments from coaches and players; and America's Game, 60-minute documentaries of Super Bowl champions.

Both sides said that more programming and footage would be added at future dates.

“We’re excited to make all of this great historical content from NFL Films and NFL Network available on Hulu,”  Hans Schroeder, vp-media strategy and development for the NFL, said in a statement. “This is a continuation of our efforts to give NFL fans access to more content in more places throughout the year.”

According to Andy Forssell, svp-content acquisition and distribution at Hulu, “The NFL team has done such amazing work over the years in beautifully portraying the drama and excitement that occurs every Sunday in the NFL, and we are proud to be able to help more people find and enjoy this great content."
