November 30, 2021: For the sixth-consecutive season, NFL players will unite for a multi-platform cause marketing effort to raise awareness and donations for non-profit organizations and causes via the My Cause My Cleats campaign.
Games played Thursday Dec. 2 thru Monday Dec. 6 will see players support their program of choice by wearing customized cleats, many of which will then be put up for auction in an effort to raise additional funds and awareness.
“Our players are passionate supporters of many charitable causes and serve as change-makers in their communities," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said via the league.
"We are excited to build upon last year's success and work with our players to expand this unique platform that enables them to raise awareness for causes they support.
Marketing support beginning today — Nov. 30, aka Giving Tuesday — includes TV around NFL games, social media (#MyCauseMyCleats) and player activation.
Players worked with Nike, adidas, Under Armour and other companies, as well as individual artists, to create custom-designed cleats.
The significant drive behind My Cause My Cleats is that rookies have has much impact as veteran players, including Jacksonville Jaguars first-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence, supporting Long Branch Elementary school; and New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, wearing cleats for Boston Children's Hospital.
Coaches are also involved, including Jones’ head coach Bill Belichick, who will be supporting the Bill Belichick Foundation, which “provides coaching, mentors and financial support to community organizations.”
The plethora of organizations and platforms being supported include the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Black Lives Matter, Dementia Society of America, Down Syndrome Association, Epilepsy Foundation, International Justice Mission, Lupus Foundation of America, Special Olympics and Wounded Warrior Project.
Several players are working on behalf of their own organizations.

Miami Dolphins' Greg Little will also be wearing cleats for MDA on Dec. 5 against the New York Giants.
“Raising awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Association is important to me because I have seen my mother, grandmother and uncle live with a neuromuscular disease," Hines said via MDA.
“In just the past six years, MDA's efforts have enabled the approvals of 14 new treatments that are transforming the lives of people with neuromuscular diseases, and I know that together, the more funds we raise, the more we can achieve our shared mission of supporting families to live empowered lives.”
