Survey: Patriots, Packers, Eagles Most Expensive NFL Games To Attend

NYSJ Sports-Entertainment Business News Service

September 24, 2018:
The New England Patriots are the second most valuable franchise in the NFL, valued $3.8 billion, behind the Dallas Cowboys at $5 billion, according to Forbes.

But the Patriots top another list: Fans of the team pay the most among NFL supporters to attend a home game.

To attend a Patriots game in Gillette Stadium, people spend an average of $804 for two tickets, the most among the league’s 32 teams.

For those people needing accommodations, that adds another $567 for two nights in a Boston hotel for an average total of $1,371, according to a new survey from CheapHotels.org.

The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have the second highest average for tickets at $612 for a pair in Lincoln Financial Field, with a two-night stay in the city averaging $389 for an average total of $1,001.

However, the Green Bay Packers are the second most-expensive team for fans, with an average cost of $510 for two tickets in Lambeau Field.

What puts the Packers so high on the list is that it costs an average of $827 for two nights in a Green Bay hotel, bringing the average total to $1,337.

In what might come as a surprise to people isn New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, accommodation costs in Green Bay, population just over 105,000, are the “priciest in the league,” according to CheapHotels.org.

Despite both teams playing in MetLife Stadium, there was nearly a $200 difference in the total average price for tickets and accommodations for the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

A pair of Giants tickets average $365 while two for the Jets average $176, according to CheapHotels.org.

The survey took into account the first five home games of each team, which were “analyzed for the average rate two people must spend for the two cheapest available tickets (for side-by-side seats, excluding upper-level seats) and two nights in the cheapest available double room at a 3-star or higher hotel located in the nearest city center,” per CheapHotels.org.

Food, drinks and other costs were not included in the survey.

The firm specified that the established rates are averages, as ticket and hotel rates fluctuate depending on the opposing team and the game date.

“For example, the Tennessee Titans’ home game against the Philadelphia Eagles costs two people roughly $1,500, while other Titans’ games would cost less than $600 for the same seats and accommodations,” per CheapHotels.org.

The Top Five most expensive NFL tickets also include the Seattle Seahawks ($594 average for two, $976 adding in a two-night stay) and Carolina Panthers ($548, $895 adding in a two-night stay).

At the other end of the list, the teams with the lowest average cost for two tickets and two-night accommodations were the Baltimore Ravens ($529), Los Angeles Rams ($522), Indianapolis Colts ($516), the Jets and the Buffalo Bills ($486).
