‘We Made The Call’: NFL Players Assn. Has Players Name First Players' All-Pro Teams

January 11, 2023: The NFL Players Assn. has for the first time named its own All-Pro team.
The NFLPA's All-Pro Team was determined strictly by players currently on NFL rosters.
For the NFL’s Pro Bowl — reconfigured this season as the Pro Bowl Games — players' votes accounted for only one-third of the total votes, with fans and coaches taking the other two-thirds.
According to the NFLPA, “This year, we made the call with the first Players' All-Pro Team.
“We asked players across the league to select who had the most impact this season. The players were tasked with voting for the best player at their same position and positions they line up against.
“We compete against each other all season long, watching hours and hours of film week after week after week, and yet we have never had an opportunity to truly use our expertise to select the best of us.
“We think it is important that players take the time to define ourselves, because so far, we have allowed everyone else to either pick or dilute our voices.”
Among the criteria:
• Players cannot vote for themselves or for their own teammates
• Only active NFL players can vote and they get only one vote
• Players vote for the position group they play in and line up against
• If a player missed five or more games as of Week 15, then they are ineligible. “This is to ensure that we are choosing the best players who had the most impact this season. Being available counts.”
