• The NBA has named Indianapolis as the site for the 2021 All-Star Game, to be played in Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Feb. 14. NFL Players Pack It In For FedEx Promotion

November 1, 2010: Some NFL teams are packing on the victories, with the ultimate goal of reaching Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium; for other teams, the Super Bowl ship has already sailed away.

From now until Dec. 31, 2010, FedEx is aiming for both packing and shipping, and has unveiled a promotion that gives consumers the chance to win a locker room's worth of NFL goodies. In addition, during the holiday-heavy months of November and December, NFL players will join with FedEx workers at FedEx Office locations in seven NFL cities "to deliver a winning holiday season for its customers."

Long-time NFL marketing partner FedEx said that its NFL promotion is specifically designed to bring attention to the services being offered during its busiest time of the year. FedEx is the official delivery service sponsor of the NFL, Super Bowl and Pro Bowl.

“Last year, we shipped 13.6 million packages across the country and around the world on Dec. 14 alone, which was our busiest day,” Kim Dixon, evp and COO for FedEx Office, said in a statement. “At FedEx, our goal is to always deliver an outstanding customer experience, and we want people to know they can count on us to get their packages where they need to be this holiday season — safely and on-time.”

The second annual “Pack and Ship with the Pros” promotion is open to consumers nationwide, with top offerings of 2011 NFL season tickets, autographed merchandise and other prizes. (Full details here.) Consumers can signing up at more than 1,800 U.S. FedEx Office locations this season.

To help support the promotion, players such as Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware and others at FedEx locations in Indianapolis (Colts), Chicago (Bears), Boston (New England Patriots), Pittsburgh (Steelers), Denver (Broncos) and Washington (Redskins) will take time to work with consumers in shipping their holiday packages. FedEx is directing people to its Twitter page "to find out which NFL players may be working behind the counter in your area."

According to Ware, whose Cowboys seem destined to be packing their bags for home rather than the NFL playoffs and a shot at the Super Bowl in their own stadium, “Instead of pass rushing, I’ll be packing and shipping with the pros at FedEx Office. I’ll have some fun with my fans in a new environment, while learning how to package up some of those special holiday gifts.”

Among other activations, FedEx currently handles the FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week, as voted on by fans and consumers. That ultimately will lead to the FedEx Air Player and FedEx Ground Player of the Year honors. Those awards were won last season by QB Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints and RB Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans, respectively. FedEx, which has been sponsor of these award since 2003, plans to unveil the winners of the 2010 honors during Super Bowl XLV festivities.
