Special to NYSportsJournalism.com

July 31, 2017: NBC has unveiled a list of ten players who will been seen by a record number of eyeballs on Sundays when they appear alongside Carrie Underwood during her performance of "Oh, Sunday Night," the opening theme for Sunday Night Football.

The new show open will debut Sept. 10 when the New York Giants visit the Dallas Cowboys in the Sunday Night Football season-opener.

However, NBC said that a sneak preview would air during its coverage of the San Francisco 49ers-Minnesota Vikings pre-season game on Sunday, Aug. 27.

The ten NFL players, who participated in filming of the open shoot at Universal Studios Hollywood in June are (in alphabetical order)

• Antonio Brown Pittsburgh Steelers
• Derek Carr Oakland Raiders
•  Dont’a Hightower New England Patriots
• Travis Kelce Kansas City Chiefs
• Julio Jones Atlanta Falcons
• Khalil Mack Oakland Raiders
• Von Miller Denver Broncos
• Patrick Peterson Arizona Cardinals
• Jason Pierre-Paul New York Giants
• Dak Prescott Dallas Cowboys

According to NBC, "Oh, Sunday Night" is set to the music of "Somethin’ Bad," the 2014 release from Underwood and Miranda Lambert that earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Underwood worked with the songwriters of "Somethin’ Bad" — Chris DeStefano, Brett James and Priscilla Renea — to rewrite the lyrics for Sunday Night Football.

This NFL season marks the fifth for Underwood as the star of NBC’s Sunday Night Football show open.

In 2016-17, NBC’s Sunday Night Football finished as the No. 1 prime time’s TV show in all key metrics for the sixth consecutive year, tying American Idol for the most consecutive years atop the charts (since 1950), according to NBC Sports.
