• Bluberi Gaming has signed a deal with WWE to develop a series of licensed slot games featuring WWE Superstars and Legends. Among those to be featured include John Cena, Triple H, Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and Ronda Rousey, along with such Legends as Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. The first WWE series of slot games is scheduled to hit casinos October 2020.

• HarperCollins Publishers said it has acquired world rights to Back, the first memoir authored by Tiger Woods. According to Woods, “This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts. It describes how I feel and what’s happened in my life.” A publication date was not given.

• Turner Sports’ eLeague has signed a deal with tech solutions and services provider CDW to “create enhanced fan experiences across eLeague’s properties on TV, digital, social and in-arena.” The alliance also names CDW an “official arena partner” for eLeague and the Rocket League Championship Series. • San Manuel Casino, under the auspices of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, has signed a deal to become a Founding Partner for Allegiant Stadium, scheduled to open at the home of the Raiders for the 2020 NFL season when the franchise relocates from Oakland to Las Vegas.

• Halloween this year is Oct. 31, and retailers, marketers and consumers are ready for another season of trick-or-treat. Total spend on Halloween 2019 is expected to reach $8.8 billion according to the National Retail Federation, Washington, DC. Full story here. 

• The Paley Center for Media, NY, will honor the 100th season of the NFL with a new exhibit: "A Century of Football: Celebrating the NFL’s 100th Season," free and open to the public (thru Oct. 27).

NHL, Marketing Partners Hosting 2019 Bridgestone Winter Classic Park FanFest

December 6, 2018: In preparation for its 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, the NHL has unveiled a three-day free fan festival to be held Dec. 29-31 in Chicago’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park.

The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic is scheduled for Jan. 1 between the Boston Bruins and host Chicago Blackhawks in Notre Dame Stadium (NBC, Sportsnet, TVA Sports 1 PM ET).

The 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic Park will be populated by league marketing partners including Bridgestone, Discover, Dunkin’, Federal Mogul, Fisherman’s Friend, Geico, Honda, Kraft Heinz, MillerCoors, New Amsterdam Vodka, Pepsi/Frito-Lay, PPG Paints, Ticketmaster and Upper Deck.

“As we prepare for the 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend (IN), we are excited to invite everyone to the NHL Winter Classic Park for this free outdoor experience,” Steve Mayer, NHL chief content officer and evp, said via the league.

“What a great way to spend time with your family in Chicago and get in the mood for our biggest outdoor game of the year.”

The event will feature such interactions and experiences as autograph sessions with former Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins greats, hockey skill and interactive stations, giveaways, food and the Stanley Cup.

Among the activities:

• Bridgestone: Tic-Tac-Tire, Gaming Station and Cinemograph photo opp; giveaways: rally towels, eye blacks, buffs

• Discover: Frozen Mini-Golf

• Dunkin: "Brewed for This" Zone with air hockey and bubble hockey; giveaways: coffee, hot chocolate, munchkins

• Fanatics: Official Merchandise store

• Federal Mogul: Target Practice; giveaways: key chains, phone wallet, earbuds

• Fisherman's Friend: Hardest Shot; giveaway: throat Lozenges

• Geico: Giant Hockey Helmet photo opp, "Howling" hockey-themed bowling

Live music will be provided by three Chicago-based bands: Red Carpet Riot, Stache! and 97Nine.

In addition, an assortment of NHL Winter Classic products will be available for purchase at the Official Merchandise Shop.

The league is directing people to download the NHL Fan Access App for “exclusive prizes and opportunities” at the 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic Park, including the chance to win tickets to the 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic; Shop.NHL.com, EA Sports and Dunkin’ gift cards; and autographed jerseys.

According to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, “This three-day fan festival will not only add to the world-class programming in Millennium Park, it will help inspire future generations of hockey stars who are playing on rinks in neighborhoods throughout the city of Chicago.”
