Now, Nike has launched its newest sports weapon with a nod to the past - the Nike Trainer 1, which the company said was inspired by the original Nike Air Trainer popularized 20 years ago by Jackson and tennis star John McEnroe. As part of the launch, Nike produced an array of current stars: NFL all-pros Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu; NBA al-stars Brandon Roy and Amar’e Stoudemire; and Olympic gold medal decathlete Bryan Clay. The Nike Trainer 1 will be available in the U.S. July 1 (SRP $90) with support that includes print, online. POP and experiential marketing. According to the company, the Nike Trainer 1 features "Nike DiamondFLX, a patent-pending outsole system that provides flexibility and support through multi-directional movement – ideal for any training regimen." “The Nike Trainer 1 will help athletes prepare and perform better in their sport,” Kris Aman, vp/GM-Nike Athletic Training, said in a statement. “To create this shoe, we’ve taken the very best from our rich training heritage and combined it with new innovations and insights from today’s best athletes.” Back to Home Page
