United On Board With Team USA Athletes, P&G's Bounty Bonds With Lindsey Vonn

Special To NYSportsJournalism.com

Nov. 2, 2017: United, the official airline for the U.S. Olympic Committee, has unveiled its lineup of Team USA athletes who will represent the 'New Spirit of United' during the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

According to United, “These athletes embody United's core values of flying together and working as one unified team towards success. They are role models both in and out of competition, and will represent United throughout the PyeongChang Games.”

Among other activation, the athletes will appear in a United U.S. Olympic-themed ad campaign that will launch in January.

Team United includes Gus Kenworthy (freeskier), Jamie Anderson (snowboarder), J.R. Celski (short track speedskater), Erin Hamlin (luger), Nathan Chen ( figure skater) and Nikko Landeros (sled hockey player).

Separately, IOC and USOC partner Procter & Gamble brand Bounty has aligned with world champion skier Lindsey Vonn for an “inside look at how she’s preparing to be the quickest of quick on the slopes.”

According to the brand, “Vonn and Bounty share a unique trait of being quick, which is essential for Vonn on the slopes . . . Vonn’s training routine emphasizes the element of speed and ways to enhance it, in order to perform her quickest at PyeongChang 2018.”

Regarding Team United,  Andrew Nocella, evp and COO for United, said that the Olympians and Paralympians on Team USA “work as a team to excel in their sports, set records and bring home the gold.

“It's that same dedication and teamwork that our own United employees put forward every day to connect hundreds of thousands of our customers to the moments that matter most to them."

The carrier, which has been the official airline of Team USA for almost 40 years, is offering exclusive opportunities for MileagePlus customers to see Team USA in action at the Olympic Winter Games live in PyeongChang. (Details here.)

As for her role with Bounty, Vonn said “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Bounty for the Winter Olympics — especially given the connection between downhill skiing and the need to be quick.

“The 'Quicker Picker Upper' not only represents my energy on the slopes, which is quick, but it’s my go-to for picking up life’s everyday spills off the slopes.”

Added Jacques Hagopian, Bounty brand director, Procter & Gamble. “Bounty’s longstanding heritage as the Quicker Picker Upper is a perfect match with Lindsey Vonn’s speed, agility, and performance on the global stage.

"We are so proud to be a part of Lindsey’s journey to the Winter Olympics, and wish her all the best (and quickness) in PyeongChang.”

P&G is also aligned with Olympic athletes and icons including Gus Kenworthy, Elana Meyers Taylor, Michelle Kwan, Oksana Masters and Zahra Lari.
