Melanie Oudin Has Plans To Get Personal For Tennis Channel

November 4, 2009: Melanie Oudin, the teenage tennis player who took the 2009 US Open by storm, will christen the Tennis Channel's Players Lounge, an online destination where athletes will answer questions submitted by fans. Oudin's online Q&A session is scheduled for Nov. 11 at 4 PM (EDT) at  www.tennischannel.com/oudin_chat.

People are being encouraged to submit questions to Oudin at the site. Tennis Channel said she would talk about her life both on and off the court. However, it is unlikely that she would address such issues as her parent's divorce.

“I’m excited to be part of Tennis Channel’s new Players Lounge, and it will be a lot of fun to answer questions and talk with tennis fans on its first day,” Oudin said in a statement.

Oudin, who will participate in the U.S. Fed Cup team finals in Italy this week, is ranked No. 49 in the world, the third-highest ranked American player behind Serena Williams at No. 1 and Venus Williams. at No. 7. Oudin is one of the five players currently featured in the Players Lounge along with Rafael Nadal, Sam Querrey, John Isner and Victoria Azarenka. Tennis Channel said that more players are expected to be added.

Oudin also has become a star off the court, with marketing endorsements that include AirTran, Back Office Associates, Wilson and adidas. She is handled by Blue Entertainment Sports Television.

In addition to the Q&A feature, visitors also have the ability to download players’ favorite songs directly from the Lounge through iTunes.

“We work with tennis players every day and Players Lounge is just another way to share as much of  their personalities as possible with our viewers,”  Robyn Miller, svp-marketing for Tennis Channel, said in a statement. “This is also a unique manner in which to work with partners like Apple – where viewers connect with the players through products and services they can link in the Players Lounge, such as iTunes.”
