• The Professional Baseball Agreement between MLB and minor league teams expires at the end of the 2020 season. • Bluberi Gaming has signed a deal with WWE to develop a series of licensed slot games featuring WWE Superstars and Legends. Among those to be featured include John Cena, Triple H, Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and Ronda Rousey. The first WWE series of slot games is scheduled to hit casinos October 2020.

• HarperCollins Publishers said it has acquired world rights to Back, the first memoir authored by Tiger Woods. According to Woods, “This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts.” A publication date was not given.

• Halloween this year is Oct. 31, and retailers, marketers and consumers are ready for another season of trick-or-treat. Total spend on Halloween 2019 is expected to reach $8.8 billion according to the National Retail Federation, Washington, DC. Full story here.

PGA Tour, LPGA Align With Aon, Marketing Led By $1M Risk Reward Challenge

The PGA Tour and LPGA have signed deals with Aon naming the global professional services firm an official partner for each circuit, with combined marketing support that will be anchored by the Aon Risk Reward Challenge.

The Risk Reward Challenge will offer a cool million dollars each to the man and woman who finish the season with the best score on ‘the most strategically challenging holes across both the PGA Tour and LPGA schedules."

The alliance, which begins with the 2019 season, names Aon the “official risk, retirement and health advisor of the PGA Tour” and the “official professional services firm of the LPGA.”

Financial terms of the deal were not released.

The Aon Risk Reward Challenge will be supported with a multi-platform strategy that includes broadcast integration with CBS and Golf Channel and via PGA Tour and LPGA digital platforms.

An intro spot features  PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and LPGA commissioner Mike Whan talking about the alliance and the Aon Risk Reward Challenge.

According to Whan, "The Aon Risk Reward Challenge will bring an exciting new season-long competition to our Tour with a very significant $1 million prize for our winner.

“The fact that Aon is providing equal prize money for the men (PGA Tour) and women (LPGA) has made a huge statement to our players, and we couldn’t be more appreciative."

Aon will also have the opportunity to “bring clients and colleagues inside the ropes with exclusive experiences and business networking events around the world.”

The Aon Risk Reward Challenge includes 30 LPGA tournaments, 28 PGA Tour tournaments.

Specific holes and tournaments will be revealed prior to the season.

“At Aon, we use proprietary data and analytics to advise our clients and provide the insights they need to stay a step ahead of the competition,” Greg Case, CEO for Aon, said in a statement.

“The same is true in golf, where players must take calculated risks that improve their performance. We are excited to showcase the best strategic decision makers from across the world of golf through the Aon Risk Reward Challenge.”

Monahan and Whan said the co-promotion of the Aon Risk Reward Challenge  is a strategic continuation of an alliance formed by PGA Tour and LPGA in 2016 designed to further promote the growth of golf. The commissioners said they “are hopeful that they will continue to see examples of such collaboration.”

Aon said it would collaborate with both Tours to create a season-long program that spans the sport,

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Aon as our newest official marketing partner and to align with a globally respected brand that we know will be a tremendous asset to our business,” Monahan said in a statement.
