• Bluberi Gaming has signed a deal with WWE to develop a series of licensed slot games featuring WWE Superstars and Legends. Among those to be featured include John Cena, Triple H, Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and Ronda Rousey, along with such Legends as Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. The first WWE series of slot games is scheduled to hit casinos October 2020.

• HarperCollins Publishers said it has acquired world rights to Back, the first memoir authored by Tiger Woods. According to Woods, “This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts. It describes how I feel and what’s happened in my life.” A publication date was not given.

• Turner Sports’ eLeague has signed a deal with tech solutions and services provider CDW to “create enhanced fan experiences across eLeague’s properties on TV, digital, social and in-arena.” The alliance also names CDW an “official arena partner” for eLeague and the Rocket League Championship Series. • San Manuel Casino, under the auspices of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, has signed a deal to become a Founding Partner for Allegiant Stadium, scheduled to open at the home of the Raiders for the 2020 NFL season when the franchise relocates from Oakland to Las Vegas.

• Halloween this year is Oct. 31, and retailers, marketers and consumers are ready for another season of trick-or-treat. Total spend on Halloween 2019 is expected to reach $8.8 billion according to the National Retail Federation, Washington, DC. Full story here. 

• The Paley Center for Media, NY, will honor the 100th season of the NFL with a new exhibit: "A Century of Football: Celebrating the NFL’s 100th Season," free and open to the public (thru Oct. 27).

Hometown Brewer Sam Adams Now Team Player As Official Beer For Boston Red Sox

December 12, 2017: Two icons of Boston have finally come together, with fans and consumers asking, “What took you so long?”

The Boston Red Sox have signed a multi-year deal naming Boston-based Samuel Adams as the team’s official beer.

Sam Adams replaces Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser as the Red Sox official beer sponsor.

Budweiser is the official beer sponsor for MLB but teams are allowed to sign officials beer partners, keeping marketing within their geographical area.

Sam Adams said it is the “first American craft brewer to enter into a partnership with a Major League Baseball franchise, for this length of time and at this level.”

The brewer also said that this alliance is its first “professional team partnership, of this scale.”

Financial terms of the deal were not released.

"Both the Red Sox and Sam Adams are rooted in Boston tradition and history, and Jim Koch and the entire team are as passionate about beer as we are about baseball," said Sam Kennedy, Red Sox president and CEO. ”We are excited for this long-term partnership, and look forward to working collaboratively to represent Boston through our two brands."

Among other activations, the right field roof deck in Fenway Park will now be known as the "Sam Deck,"  replacing the Budweiser Roof Deck.

A bar area located beneath the third base stands will be known as "Sammy's On Third."

Sam Adams will support with multi-media marketing, including signage in Fenway Park, on-air, Internet and social media.

In addition, Sam Adams said it would have opportunities to partner across New England and in JetBlue Park, the Red Sox spring training venue in Fort Myers, Fla.

Sam Adams said its selection in Fenway Park would include Boston Lager, Summer Ale and new brews launching in 2018 such as Sam '76.

The brewer is no stranger to sports events and fans in and around Boston.

Sam Adams said it has been the official beer for the Boston Marathon for several years.

It also has had “limited sponsorships or other arrangements” with the Red Sox, New England Patriots, NBA Celtics and the NHL Bruins.

The company said that many of the first bars and restaurants to carry its beer were around the Fenway neighborhood, “giving special meaning to the new partnership.”

"As the official beer of the Red Sox, we get to celebrate our New England roots with millions of other fans as soon as the season kicks off."

According to  Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams, ”I moved to Boston the year of the 'Impossible Dream Season,' (1967). Now visitors to this historic ballpark will enjoy the freshest Sam Adams beer, while watching an incredible team, playing under our sign over in right field.

“It's my personal impossible dream come true . . . As the official beer of the Red Sox, we get to celebrate our New England roots with millions of other fans as soon as the season kicks off."
