Taylor Swift Signs P&G Deal For CoverGirl Luxury Line Marketing

(Photo: P&G)May 2, 2010: Taylor Swift, who makes lots of people pay attention with her sound, is planning to have a lot of consumers pay attention to her looks. The multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter has signed a deal with health and beauty giant Procter & Gamble and will be featured in a marketing campaign for a new line of luxury products for CoverGirl.

The ads, which were shot last week, are scheduled to debut in January 2011. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Since hitting the national music scene in 2006, the 20-year-old Swift has sold more than 13 million albums and is the top-selling digital artist in music history. She joins a current roster of singers and actresses who appear in CoverGirl marketing, including Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres, Rihanna and Drew Barrymore.

“With her fresh beauty and authentic style, Taylor is a wonderful addition to the CoverGirl family,” Vince Hudson, GM for CoverGirl Cosmetics, said in a statement. “Through all her success, Taylor remains a grounded and sincere woman who connects with fans everywhere just by being true to who she is. She personifies the iconic image of the brand while representing the next generation of both inner and outer beauty.”

Swift this past January signed a global endorsement deal with Sony, and a TV spot for the Cyber-shot digital TX7 broke last week. Her endorsements have included LEI Jeans and Got Milk? She is handled by the William Morris Agency.

According to Swift, “I am so excited to become the next CoverGirl. I have admired many of the CoverGirls since I was a little girl . . . great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves. It’s like a dream come true to be a part of the future of CoverGirl.”

Former CoverGirl spokeswomen have included Christie Brinkley, Cheryl Tiegs, Rachel Hunter, Tyra Banks, Niki Taylor and Molly Sims.
