• Octagon and the National Women’s Soccer League have signed a multi-tier consulting partnership, in which Octagon’s Global Media Rights Consulting and Marketing divisions will "advise the NWSL on its league media rights, sponsorship, and marketing." “The growth of the NWSL over the past six years has been tremendous, and the league, its teams and players show absolutely no sign of slowing down,” Christine Franklin, SVP, Marketing, Octagon, said via the firm.

Fan Fare: Why It Costs Twice As Much To See Skins, Niners Than Browns, Bengals

September 6, 2016: The NFL is a big business — an anticipated $13.3 billion in revenue expected this season — with much of the money coming from fans and consumers during game day.

But in the NFL, a league that strives for on-field parity, not all team experiences are created equal.

League attendance topped 17.5 million in 2015. an average of 68,400 per game including all NFL stadiums, according to the NFL,  

Which translates to big dollars when you include paying for tickets, parking, food and drink.

The most expensive games to attend are in FedEx Field, where two people on average will spend $272.17 to watch the Washington Redskins, paying an average of $87.33 per ticket, $9 per beer, $5 for a soft drink, $6 for a hot dog and more than $57 to park, according to new study from GoBankingRates.com, a leading online destination for personal finance and consumer banking information.

The most expensive per-game visits on average after Washington are the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium ($270.67), Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium ($268.28), Chicago Bears at Soldier Field ($261.50), Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field ($260), Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field ($246.78) and New York Giants Game at MetLife Stadium ($246.67), according to the study.

Concurrently, the five least expensive per-game trips on average are led by the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium ($131.93), Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium ($133.66), Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson (now New Era) Stadium ($136.66), Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium ($138.67) and Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field ($141.60).

The average cost to see the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos play in Mile High Stadium is $196, while it costs an average of  $159.33 to see the NFC champion Carolina Panthers in Bank of America Stadium, per GoBankingRates.com.

"Going to a football game on a Sunday is the equivalent of going to church for some fans," Kristen Bonner, lead researcher on the GoBankingRates study, which was compiled by Andrew DiPietro, said in a statement.

"The cost of these games, however, is something that fans have to think about and, in some cases, budget for in advance. Luckily, there are stadiums that make the experience more affordable so fans can return for more games throughout the season," said Bonner.

GoBankingRates.com, based in Los Angeles, said it looked at five factors to determine how much it costs, on average, for two people to attend a home game for 31 NFL teams (excluding the Los Angeles Rams): two tickets, two hot dogs, two beers, two soft drinks and parking.

Ticket prices were calculated by averaging the cost per game for the three cheapest season ticket prices advertised on each team's official NFL site.

The other factors were based on numbers from in the September 2015 Team Marketing Report, according to GoBanking Rates.com

Among other stats, the study found that a day spent watching a Washington game in FedEx Field (272.17) for two people is more than twice as much as a Bengals game at Paul Brown Stadium ($131.93).

That the average cost for a ticket to a Bills ($72.66), Baltimore Ravens ($68.67), Houston Texans ($70.33), Denver Broncos ($67) and New York Jets ($70.33) game is less than the cost of parking at a Cowboys game at AT&T stadium ($75).

Compare that to parking for the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, which is the lowest average in the NFL: $11.

And that the average cost of two fans going to a New York Giants game in MetLife Stadium comes out to $246.67, but the average cost for two people going to a Jets game in MetLife Stadium is $193.67.

The Jets attendance figures in 2015 were also down from their MetLife co-tenant Giants: 78,160 avg., 625,280 total.

The Cowboys led all teams with an average attendance in AT&T Stadium of 91,459 and a total of more than 731,600.

They were followed by the Giants (79,000 avg., 632,000 total in MetLife Stadium) and the Packers (78,413 avg., 627,300 total) in Lambeau Field.

Also among the top teams, the Broncos averaged 76,922  per game with a 615,381 total in Mile High Stadium, followed by Washington (76,209 avg., 609,672 total) in FedEx Field, the Panthers (74,056 avg., 592,454 total) in Bank of America Stadium and Kansas City (74,086 avg., 592,688 total) in Arrowhead Stadium.
