Tiger Woods Wants Fans, Opponents To Get Caught In His Web

June 16, 2009: Tiger Woods, already considered the man with the most weapons on the golf course, will add another to his arsenal as he prepares to defend his U.S. Open title this week: an enhanced Web site. TigerWoods.com, Woods' official Web site, and MLB Advanced Media, the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, have signed a multi-year agreement under which MLBAM will work with Woods' staff to host, manage and operate the site, including responsibility for backend functionality, digital encoding and online customer service and support. MLBAM has been responsible for operating the TigerWoods.com mobile Web site since 2006, conducting text messaging outreach campaigns and delivering wallpapers.

The site relaunches this week with a new free fantasy game, "The Tiger Woods Scorecard Challenge." Beginning with the first round of the 2009 U.S. Open on June 18, visitors can pick Tiger's scores for each round of each stroke play tournament he competes in. In addition to weekly tournament prizes, there will be a grand prize - a Tiger Woods replica golf equipment dream package - for the overall cumulative winner at the conclusion of Woods' 2009 schedule. Other new features include unrestricted access to exclusive content from Woods, including Tiger Tips, Tiger's Blog, Dear Tiger and his Fitness Q&A. MLBAM also will create and provide original TigerWoods.com content to the current Club Tiger fan base of more than 200,000 members. "Tiger Woods is a world-class athlete and person and this partnership is an exciting opportunity to support his digital initiatives by leveraging our proven state-of-the-art technological infrastructure, particularly in the area of streaming high-quality video," Leslie Gittess, vp-business development for MLBAM, said in a statement.
