June 20, 2019:
United Airlines, which is not an official partner with the NCAA, wants to be top-of-mind with students, athletes, families and friends of college football.

The carrier has unveiled its 2019 college football flying schedule, adding around 10,000 seats between its hubs and popular game destinations.

Of significant importance, for the first time, United Airlines said it has added several point-to-point flights, “enabling fans to fly nonstop from one college town to another.”

Nine games in all are part of the first-year Point-to-Point program. It runs August to November.

Among the universities and teams included in the platform are Alabama, Duke, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Southern California and Wisconsin.

Earlier this month, United Airlines and the University of Southern California agreed on a ten-year naming-rights deal for the iconic Los Angeles Coliseum, which is operated by USC and has been home to the Trojans football team since it opened in 1923, to be known as United Airlines Field at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, beginning in August.

An earlier deal to rename the venue the United Airlines Memorial Coliseum was scrapped after local politicians and representatives of war veteran organizations saw that as being insulting to the veterans it was meant to honor.

Financial terms were not released. The initial deal was estimated to be $69 million over 16 years by industry analysts.

This is the second year United has added seats for college football games.

"Our playbook this year will make it easier than ever for fans, alumni and students to cheer on their teams in other college towns across the country," Ankit Gupta, vp-domestic network planning for United, said via the airline.

"It's exciting for football fans and even more exciting for United to be able to operate nonstop flights between these communities for the very first time."

United said that tickets for the games are now available for purchase.
