Vicks Launches Twitter Deal For 2010 Winter Olympics With Ohno, Jacobellis

October 19, 2009: Vicks, a division of Procter & Gamble, said it has launched a campaign starring U.S. Olympians Apolo Anton Ohno and Lindsey Jacobellis supporting a sweepstakes with the top prize of a trip to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

The sweepstakes, "Tweet Your Way to See Team USA," runs now  through Jan. 4, 2010. The 2010 Games will be held Feb. 12-28. Vicks is the official cough, cold and flu medicine of the U.S. Olympic Team.

To enter the Vicks "Tweet Your Way to See Team USA" sweepstakes, consumers must become followers of Ohno and Jacobellis on Twitter, then watch for the athletes to tweet the official URL. Consumers are automatically entered by clicking on the URL and then entering their e-mail address.

P&G last month signed a deal with the U.S. Olympic Committee to partner 17 of its brands with Team America and such athletes as Ohno, Jacobellis, Allison Baver (speed skating), Tanith Belbin (ice dancing), Vonetta Flowers (bobsled) and Lindsey Vohn (alpine skiing).

"Athletes like myself train their whole lives to compete in the Olympic Games and having fans on the sidelines cheering Team USA at the biggest sporting event in the world makes all the difference for an athlete," Ohno, who recently signed a deal with Alaska Airlines tied to the 2010 Olympics, said in a statement. "It's so hard to get tickets to the Olympics, but now thanks to Vicks, all my fans have a chance to win a trip to 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver to support me and all of Team USA in person."
