Rookie Wembanyama Spurs NBA Jersey Sales, Team Merch Figures For San Antonio

January 30, 2024: The Season of Victor Wembanyama in the NBA is now making its presence felt in the sales department.

The San Antonio Spurs 7’4” rookie has the fourth best-selling jersey and the Spurs are No. 9 in team merchandise sales based on NBAStore.com sales for the first half of the 2023-24 regular season.

According to the NBA, Wembanyama reached the highest ranking on the Most Popular Jersey list for a rookie since Kristaps Porziņģis in the 2015-16 season when he was with the New York Knicks (now with the Celtics), and the Spurs are in the Top 10 in Team Merchandise sales for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

Sales figures were not released by the league.

Among all players, the Top Five best-selling jerseys also include 1. Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), 2. Jason Tatum (Boston Celtics), 3. LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) and 5. Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks).

James finished the 2022-23 season with the league’s best-selling jersey and had held that No. 1 spot since figures released at the end of the 2018-19 season showed him having the best-selling jersey in his first season with the Lakers.

Curry temporarily overtook him during the first half of the 2022-23 season.

The Lakers maintain the No. 1 spot among team merchandise sales as they did at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season.

The Top Five also includes 2. Boston Celtics, 3. Golden State Warriors, 4. Milwaukee Bucks and 5. Philadelphia 76ers.

According to the NBA, Celtics’ Jayson Tatum (No. 2) earned his highest ranking on the Most Popular Jersey list; and 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey (No. 9) and Sacramento Kings’ De'Aaron Fox (No. 15) made their debuts on the Most Popular Jersey list.

At No. 10. Damian Lillard made the list in his first season with the Bucks. He was No. 9 at the end of last season when he was with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Ja Morant came in at No. 11 despite missing most of the first half of the season with the Memphis Grizzlies due to a league suspension and now a season ending injury.
