Off Course: Tiger Woods. Lindsey Vonn Say They Are No Longer A Golf Twosome

Special to NYSportsJournalism.com

May 4, 2015: As they say in Hollywood, Ti-Lind is no more.

Golf star Tiger Woods and world-renowned skier Lindsey Vonn revealed on their respective Web and social media sites on Sunday that their three-year relationship has come to an end.

That also put to an end thoughts that companies might have had of pairing them in marketing efforts.

Unlike some high-profile couple break-ups, this one dissolved mutually and with the participants showing mutual respective for the other.

"Lindsey and I have mutually decided to stop dating," Tiger Woods wrote on his Web site of the three-year relationship.

"I have great admiration, respect and love for Lindsey and I'll always cherish our time together. She has been amazing with Sam and Charlie and my entire family."

The two were seen at The Masters last month along with Woods' kids. That scene, as it now seems, was the exception rather than the norm.

"Unfortunately, we lead very hectic lives and are both competing in demanding sports," wrote woods. "It's difficult to spend time together."

On her Facebook page, Vonn wrote, "After nearly three years together, Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship. I will always cherish the memories that we've created together. Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart. I will always admire and respect Tiger. He and his beautiful family will always hold a special place in my heart."

The two made a substantial marketing couple, although they never appeared together in ads or endorsements.

Though down from a high of about $120 million in annual endorsements, Woods' current marketing roster — valued at some $35 million by industry analysts — includes Rolex, MusclePharm, Kowa, Nike Golf and Upper Deck.

Vonn's endorsement deals, put at some $3-$5 million, include Under Armour, Oakley, Red Bull, Head and GoPro.

The split comes as Woods has amped-up his playing schedule by committing to six tournaments, beginning this week with The Players Championship in Florida and followed by The Memorial in Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin, Ohio (June 4-7) and the 115th U.S. Open in Chambers Bay, University Place, Wash. (June 18-21).

He also said he would play in the Greenbrier Classic, the Open Championship and the Quicken Loans National.
