February 2, 2018: During Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4, NBC plans to do some heavy promotion for its exclusive coverage of the Winter Olympics, which begin later in the week, with several spots featuring such Team USA athletes as Nathan Chen, Lindsey Vonn, Chloe Kim and Shaun White.

It also plans to promote its coverage of the biggest football event in the world — the FIFA 2018 Russia World Cup this July-August.

NBCUniversal’s Telemundo Deportes is the exclusive Spanish-language home for the FIFA World Cup and will get time during the biggest football game in the U.S. to reach a projected audience of more than 111 million.

A ten-second commercial stars iconic soccer announcer Andres Cantor and his classic mic-dropping signature “Gooool” call.

The Super Bowl activation marks the official launch of Telemundo Deportes’ multi-platform marketing campaign, “Lo Vivimos Juntos” (“We Live It Together”), which “aims to rally Latinos across the country around the most anticipated, global sporting event:  the FIFA World Cup Russia.”

A 30-second version of its just-released self-titled anthem spot is scheduled to air during NBC’s Super Bowl LII Pre-Game Show and Universo’s Spanish-language telecast of the Big Game.

Telemundo Deportes is the exclusive Spanish-language home for the FIFA World Cup through 2026 and the Summer Olympic Games through 2032.

“We want to let everyone know that we will have the most exciting, authentic coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and Super Bowl Sunday is a great vehicle for us to reach sports fans,” Ray Warren, president, Telemundo Deportes, said in a statement.

“Andres Cantor is a legendary giant in the World Cup community and makes our coverage unique. His trademark ‘gooool’ call carries all the passion of the sport regardless of language," said Warren.

Cantor will be part of NBC’s Super Bowl LII Pre-Game Show, "lending his trademark voice and offering pre-game views and entertainment around the big event."

Telemundo DeportesLo Vivimos Juntos”  extended 90-second spot shows “how the passion for fútbol brings people together through the lenses of a group of children (and) aims to connect soccer fans with the power of storytelling.

It also seeks to position Telemundo “as the ultimate destination for the most authentic coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.”

Shorter a 60-second version will also air.

Support includes digital and social media.

Telemundo Deportes said it plans more than 500 hours of World Cup-related programming across Telemundo Network and its sister cable network Universo.

Telemundo Deportes’ digital platforms will provide more than 1,000 hours of content, including a live-stream of all Telemundo Deportes’ programming, exclusive short- and long-form content and highlights.

“NBCU has Super Bowl LII, the Winter Olympics and (on Telemundo Deportes) the 2018 FIFA World Cup,”  Jim Bell, executive producer for NBCUniversal for the Olympics and Telemundo World Cup, said during a recent media conference call. “That's a pretty cool trifecta. I’m not sure that's ever happened in one year.”
