Caroline Wozniacki Rides Into Sweet Marketing Deal As The Next Lady Godiva

February 11, 2015: In the same week that she got to show off her physical attributes in the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, top-ranked tennis player Caroline Wozniacki has signed on to become the first global celebrity spokesperson for Godiva Chocolatier.

The alliance has its roots in Wozniacki's love of chocolate, which she talked about in an article in the Wall Street Journal late last year, according to Godiva.

Financial terms of the alliance were not disclosed.

Woziacki will appear in multi-media marketing and make personal appearances to support Godiva's 500+ destinations in more than 80 countries.

Tennis star Maria Sharapova has her own line of gummy candies under the banner, Sugarpova.

"No matter where tennis takes me across the globe, I always find myself in a Godiva store," Wozniacki said during a media event at the brand's location in New York City on Tuesday (Feb. 11). "It's the perfect partnership because it allows me to indulge a little when I'm on the road and in need of a pick-me-up."

Among her other endorsement deals are adidas, Babolat and Rolex.

Currently ranked No. 5 in the world, Wozniack iwas No. 1 in 2010 and 2011. She ran the 2014 New York Marathon this past November and her time of 3:26:33 qualified her for the Boston Marathon in April.

"At Godiva, we like to say that we can turn a simple smile into a 'Wow!', and Caroline does the same around the world," Mohamed Elsarky, Godiva CEO, said n a statement. "We are excited to welcome Caroline into the Godiva family, and feel she is the ideal face for the brand — a vibrant, world-class talent, with appeal well beyond the tennis court."
