Advanta World Team Tennis Votes To Host 2009 Championship In D.C.

(Photo: WTT)May 7, 2009: Advanta World Team Tennis, which will hold court in July scheduled to feature such stars as Andre Agassi, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, John McEnroe, Anna Kournikova and Martina Navratilova, said that its 2009 finals would be held July 26 in Washington. D.C.. The top two teams will play for the King Trophy, named for WTT co-founder Billie Jean King, at Kastles Stadium in downtown Washington (11th and H streets, Northwest). Now in its 34th season, WTT consists of 10 co-ed pro teams, with the 2009 season running July 2-22. League sponsors also include FirmGreen Energy, GEICO, Balle de Match and Wilson Racquet Sports. The U.S. Tennis Assn. is a minority owner and promotional partner. “It will be great for our many East Coast fans to have the opportunity to experience the Finals in person for the first time in several years," WTT CEO/commissioner Ilana Kloss said in a statement. "This will be a terrific environment to showcase our premier event.”
