• Tony Wyllie has been named regional president and managing director for Special Olympics North America. Wyllie most recently was svp-communications for the NFL’s Washington Redskins since 2010. His three-decade career also includes PR/communications w the St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams, Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans.

• The Los Angeles Clippers have signed a deal with Los Angeles-based tech firm Honey, which includes naming rights to team's renovated Honey Training Center: Home of the L.A. Clippers and its logo on team practice jerseys. According to Honey, "10 million-plus members worldwide use Honey's suite of free tools daily to save time and money when shopping online.”

• Washington Mystics forward-guard Elena Delle Donne has been named 2019 WNBA MVP.  It is the second MVP award for seven-year player, making her the first player in WNBA history to earn the honor with two different teams (2015 Chicago Sky).

• BMW Group Russia has signed a deal with tennis star Daniil Medvedev, currently ranked No. 4 in the world, who fell in five sets to Rafael Nadal in the recent U.S. Open Grand Slam finals. Medvedev, who will represent Russia in the inaugural ATP Cup tournament in Australia this January, will participate in various brand activities, including a BMW patch on his shirt, in Russia and worldwide to be unveiled at a later date.

• SoFi Stadium, which will be the new $6 billion home venue for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Chargers beginning in 2020, will open July 25-26 with two Taylor Swift concerts.

• CBD edible company Bhang, Miami, has acquired Red Ace, a leading organic beverage company. Bhang plans to launch a Red Ace-branded line of CBD/terpene-style beverages and products, including functional sparkling beverages. Athlete ambassadors include Christian Ramirez, Russell Canouse and Kelyn Rowe (MLS) and Spencer Keiboom (Washington Nationals). Red Ace products are currently sold at more than 1,400 locations, including Whole Foods and Amazon.

• The Paley Center for Media, NY, will honor the 100th season of the NFL with a new exhibit: "A Century of Football: Celebrating the NFL’s 100th Season," free and open to the public (Sept. 14-Oct. 27), which includes the first public screening of the only known complete broadcast of Super Bowl I (then known as the AFL-NFL World Championship Game) in January 1967 between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs

• Pete Frates and Pat Quinn, co-founders of ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, have launched with The ALS Assn. the 5th anniversary of “Challenge Me” with a “new call to action to reignite the passion and generosity of the millions of people who dumped ice water on their heads in the summer of 2014.”

WWE Deal Puts Steve Austin, 'Macho Man', Ric Flair, Undertaker Into Foot Locker

March 21, 2017: WrestleMania 33 is less than two weeks away, and many of the biggest stars in the WWE sky will be in Orlando's Camping World Stadium on April 2.

In anticipation of their mega-event, WWE has united some of its legendary stars via a new licensing and distribution alliance with Foot Locker and Puma.

WWE said it has created a collection of footwear and apparel that features such icons as  "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Ultimate Warrior, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Ric Flair, André the Giant and Undertaker.

The WWE-licensed products will be available in 33 select Puma Lab Powered by Foot Locker locations nationwide in limited edition, beginning April 1 (on a first-come, first-serve basis).

The collection will also include limited pairs of WWE-inspired white Puma Clydes — named for Walt "Clyde" Frazer, a longtime endorser and member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame — in custom boxes.

An additional 23 pairs of black Puma Clydes will be sold exclusively in Orlando (SMRP $499) with Undertaker imagery and packaged in a collectible sneaker casket, according to WWE and Foot Locker.

"We are thrilled to partner with Foot Locker on a new product line that will not only engage our current fan base, but appeal to new fans as well," Casey Collins, evp-consumer products for WWE, said in a statement. "Integrating WWE Legends on exclusive Foot Locker footwear and apparel brings WWE's culture to life in new and exciting ways."

According to John Hochadel, vp-DMM Product for Foot Locker, "At Foot Locker, our focus is always on further extending sneaker culture for our core consumers. We're excited about partnering with WWE to bring this special product story to life with Peter and Puma, for both the WWE and sneaker communities nationwide."

WWE is anticipating record-setting numbers from WrestleMania 33.

WrestleMania 32 last April generated $170.4 million in direct, indirect and induced impact derived from spending by visitors to the Dallas/Arlington region — including $25 million spent on hotels and accommodations and $8.4 million in area restaurants — and also generated about $23.8 million in federal, state and local taxes, according to a study conducted for WWE by the Enigma Research Corp.

WWE said that was a new record for WrestleMania’s economic impact and marked the fifth consecutive year that WrestleMania generated more than $100 million in economic impact for its host region.

In addition, the crowd of 101,763 fans in AT&T Stadium (home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys) made it the highest-grossing and best-attended event in WWE history.

WWE said that revenue in 2016 increased 11% to $729.2 million, the highest in the company’s history, including record levels of revenue from its network, television, live event, venue merchandise and WWE Shop segments, according to the company’s financial year-end report.

The new WWE Legends collection is curated by DJ/host and WWE enthusiast Peter Rosenberg.
