WWE Adds New Stars To Its PPV Universe: Mick, Keith, Charlie, Ronnie

By Barry Janoff

October 28, 2012: The WWE is about to unleash a new shout-out to excite the masses: "Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones! The Rolling Stones!"

The WWE, known for such superstars as John Cena, Brock Lesnar, The Rock and Randy Orton, has added a new group of world-class performers to its roster: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood.

WWE said that its pay-per-view programming division would be distributing and marketing One More Shot, the final performance of the Rolling Stones 50th anniversary tour. The pay-per-view event, in partnership with Dainty Group and Endemol, will be available Saturday, Dec. 15 (9 PM ET) through all cable, satellite and telco providers.

The Stones will play the O2 in London Nov. 25 and Nov. 29, and the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, Dec. 13 and Dec. 15, the latter of which will be the featured pay-per-view event.

Tickets to the Rolling Stones 50th anniversary shows at the O2 Arena and the Prudential Center sold out "in just 26 minutes,"  according to WWE, after going on sale Oct. 26.

The Tour coincides with the nationwide drop of GRRR!, the Stones' greatest hits CD that will come with some new songs, including the recently released "Doom and Gloom."

ESPN has been playing a sampling of Stones songs as background to Monday Night Football.

The Stones played a warm-up concert at La Trabendo in Paris on Oct. 25 in front of about 600 people.

WWE said that WrestleMania XXVIII, held April 1 in Miami's Sun Life Stadium, set a WWE pay-per-view record with 1.3 million buys.
