NFL Builds Bud Light Activation At Jewel Events, Confirms Plans For 2023 Draft

March 25, 2022: Longtime NFL partner Anheuser-Busch is upping its presence at the NFL Draft, adding its Bud Light brand as the official presenting sponsor under a multi-year plan.
The 2022 NFL Draft is scheduled for Las Vegas April 28-30, with live coverage on NFL Network, ABC, ESPN, and ESPN Deportes.
The expanded alliance with Bud Light will also see the brand activating around other jewel events, including the 2022 NFL Kickoff Weekend.
In addition, Bud Light becomes the “official sponsor of NFL celebrations, whether that be a touchdown celebration or a synchronized team dance after a game-changing play – all culminating for the first time with a Bud Light fan celebration following the Super Bowl LVII champions being crowned” on Feb. 12, 2023 in State Farm Stadium, Glendale, AZ.
The NFL also confirmed plans for the 2023 Draft, to be held in Kansas City, Mo., hosted by the Chiefs, which also will be presented by Bud Light and is scheduled for April 27-29 “in the area surrounding Union Station and the National World War I Museum and Memorial.”
“Kansas City’s internationally recognized passion for sports makes it an ideal host for the NFL Draft,” Peter O’Reilly, NFL evp-club business and league events, said via the NFL.
“We know that our partners, including the Kansas City Chiefs, City of Kansas City, Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC, will create a one-of-a-kind experience for our fans as we welcome the next generation of NFL players.”
This past December, Anheuser-Busch unveiled a five-year renewal as the global exclusive beer and hard seltzer sponsor of the NFL thru the 2026-27 season.
The previous agreement, a six-year pact beginning in 2017 and set to expire after the 2022 Super Bowl, was put at $250 million a year by industry analysts.
Bud Light has been the official beer of the NFL since 2011.
The NFL Draft was held in Nashville in 2019, remotely in 2020 and in Cleveland in 2021.
The 2022 Draft was awarded to Las Vegas after the 2020 NFL Draft was cancelled in the city due to COVID-19.The NFL has not as yet named a city for the 2024 Draft but is said to be considering as top choices Detroit, Green Bay and Washington DC.

“Our continued partnership with Anheuser-Busch is centered on our shared belief that football has the power to build unforgettable moments for our fans. We look forward to continuing to work with A-B and their club partners to bring new, on-trend experiences to life for our fans over the next five years through our partnership with Anheuser-Busch.”
Anheuser-Busch said it has 26 NFL team partnerships and endorsement deals with more than 25 current players.
At the 2022 Draft, Bud Light said it would have “prominent branding on the Main Stage, signage throughout the Draft and will take lead as part of the NFL Draft’s Concert Series.”
Bud Light said it would support with a “fully integrated marketing campaign, which will bring fans closer to the marquee event, whether they are watching from home or are in Las Vegas.”
“We’re excited that Bud Light continues to be the beer of choice for NFL fans across the country,” Matt Davis, head of sports marketing at Anheuser-Busch, said via the company.
“We know fans love watching their team play with a cold beer in-hand, and we’re excited that the Bud Light brand will be part of the season’s biggest moments — beginning as presenting sponsor of the NFL Draft.”
The multi-year deal also extends to Canada with Labatt Breweries of Canada saying Budweiser would continue its sponsorship as the official beer sponsor of the NFL in Canada.
“Budweiser Canada will continue to inspire friends to get together for game time over a meal with some Buds and will engage Canadian NFL fans for all the big moments from the Fantasy Draft to the playoffs and Super Bowl,” according to the brand.Regarding the 2023 Draft, “This will be one of the biggest and most-anticipated professional sporting events our city has hosted,” Kathy Nelson, president and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC, said via the organization
“Not only will fans from around the country be traveling to experience the NFL Draft and NFL Draft Experience, but millions of viewers will see Kansas City in the national spotlight on NFL Network, ESPN and other major networks.”
The NFL Draft Experience interactive football theme destination will be part of both events, free and open to the public.
The 2022 Draft Experience and the Draft Theater will be located behind the High Roller at the LINQ Promenade.
The Draft Experience will feature participatory games and clinics, virtual autograph sessions with NFL players, personalized digital photos, food and beverage, exclusive merchandise at NFL Shop presented by Visa and photo opportunities with a Super Bowl rings display and the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The Draft Theater as part of the experience will see prospects will take the stage upon being selected to their new team. With the Theater situated directly adjacent to Draft Experience, viewing will be available of the stage itself and on multiple screens throughout the event site.
The 2022 NFL Draft first round order is April 28, with the second and third rounds April 29 and rounds four through seven April 30.
